Título: Translation into Portuguese language (Brazil), transcultural adaptation and validation of the quality of life questionnaire in female pattern hair loss (WAA-QoL-BP)
Fonte: An. bras. dermatol;93(5):701-706, Sept.-Oct. 2018. tab, graf.
Idioma: en.
Resumo: Abstract: Background: Female pattern hair loss (FPHL) is a common complaint in adult women and inflicts major impact in quality of life, however, there is no specific questionnaire available in Portuguese for such evaluation. Objectives: Translation into Brazilian Portuguese, cultural adaptation and validation of the WAA-QoL (Women's Androgenetic Alopecia Quality of Life Questionnaire). Methods: Methodological study. After authorization by the author, cultural (linguistic) translation and adaptation to Portuguese of the WAA-QoL questionnaire were carried out. The translated version (WAA-QoL-BP) and DLQI (Dermatology Life Quality index) were submitted to patients with FPHL for concurrent validation. Twenty patients were reevaluated to assess temporal stability. Results: A total of 116 patients with APF were evaluated, the mean age (SD) was 47 (14) years, and 89 (76%) patients were classified as grades II and III (Sinclair). There was high internal consistency: Cronbach´s alpha was 0.97 for the WAA-QoL-BP and 0.87 for the DLQI. The correlation between WAA-QoL and DLQI resulted in (rho) 0.81 (p <0.01). The intraclass correlation coefficient for complete agreement of WAA-QoL-BP was 0.95 (p <0.01) in the test-retest comparison. Study Limitations: Sampling of patients only from the State of São Paulo. Conclusions: A Brazilian version for WAA-QoL was translated and adapted, which proved to be valid and consistent.

Título: Rosacea-specific quality of life questionnaire: translation, cultural adaptation and validation for Brazilian Portuguese
Fonte: An. bras. dermatol;93(6):836-842, Nov.-Dec. 2018. tab.
Idioma: en.
Projeto: FAPESP.
Resumo: Abstract: Background: Brazil does not have a rosacea-specific quality of life questionnaire. Objectives: translation into Brazilian Portuguese, development of cultural adaptation, and validation of the RosaQoL disease-specific questionnaire for rosacea of any subtype. Methods: the recommended procedures for translation, cultural adaptation, and validation of an instrument were followed, and three interviews were conducted: baseline; seven to fourteen days after baseline; and at four to six months. The questionnaire was analyzed (with 95% confidence interval) for reliability by internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha); testretest reproducibility (intraclass correlation coefficient); responsiveness and validity. Results: terms of the original questionnaire were replaced to guarantee cultural and semantic equivalence. Validity was demonstrated by expressive correlations between the RosaQoL domains and by significance in the Jonckheere-Terpstra test (p≤0.05) between the scores of the RosaQoL domains and the participants' self-perception in relation to the disease. Reliability was acceptable; alpha coefficient ranged from 0.923 to 0.916 in the first and second applications of the RosaQoL, respectively, and the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) ranged from 0.671 to 0.863 in the seven- to fourteen-day period. Responsiveness, measured by grouping participants into three categories based on self-perception of rosacea (better, worse or unchanged), was found for the "better" response group (p≤0.05). Study limitations: small sample; limited variety of screening sources. Conclusions: RosaQoL-BR (Brazil) was demonstrated as a reliable, valid and responsive questionnaire, with limitations, for individuals with any subtype of rosacea.

Título: Translation and validation of the Simplified Psoriasis Index (SPI) into Brazilian Portuguese
Fonte: An. bras. dermatol;93(6):813-818, Nov.-Dec. 2018. tab.
Idioma: en.
Resumo: Abstract: Background: The Simplified Psoriasis Index is a tool that assesses the current severity, psychosocial impact, past history and interventions in patients with psoriasis through separate components. Two versions are available, one in which the current severity of the disease is evaluated by the patient themselves and another by the physician. Objectives: Translate the Simplified Psoriasis Index into Brazilian Portuguese and verify its validity. Methods: The study was conducted in two stages; the first stage was the translation of the instrument; the second stage was the instrument's validation. Results: We evaluated 62 patients from Complexo Hospitalar Santa Casa de Porto Alegre and Hospital Universitário de Brasília. The Simplified Psoriasis Index translated into Portuguese showed high internal consistency (Cronbach test 0.68). Study limitations: Some individuals, because of poor education, might not understand some questions of the Simplified Psoriasis Index. Conclusions: The Brazilian Portuguese version of the Simplified Psoriasis Index was validated for our population and can be recommended as a reliable instrument to assess the patients with psoriasis.

Título: Descriptive dermoscopy terminology in Portuguese language in Brazil: a reproducibility analysis of the 3rd consensus of the International Dermoscopy Society
Fonte: An. bras. dermatol;93(6):852-858, Nov.-Dec. 2018. tab.
Idioma: en.
Resumo: Abstract: Background: Dermoscopy is a noninvasive complementary diagnostic method largely used in dermatology. Feasibility, accuracy, and reproducibility are key elements for a diagnostic method to be useful, hence the importance of the terminology used to describe dermoscopic criteria. Objective: To evaluate the reproducibility of the English descriptive terminology proposed for dermoscopic criteria at the 3rd Consensus Meeting of the International Dermoscopy Society in Brazilian Portuguese. Methods: Nine Brazilian dermatologists independently analyzed the translation of sixty dermoscopic descriptive terms proposed at the 3rd Consensus Conference of the International Society of Dermoscopy. Interobserver agreement index was analyzed using the Fleiss' kappa test. Results: The interobserver agreement of the descriptive terminology in Brazilian Portuguese was considered weak (κ = 0.373; p < 0.05). The interobserver agreement of the descriptive terminology used to describe morphology and arrangement of vascular structures was considered moderate (κ = 0.43; p < 0.05). Study limitations: Our study limitations include the small number of participants and limited regional representation (only 2 out of 5 Brazilian regions were represented). Conclusions: The descriptive English terminology proposed at the 3rd Consensus Conference of the International Dermoscopy Society revealed weak reproducibility and the morphology and arrangement of vascular structures presented moderate reproducibility in Brazilian Portuguese. Despite small regional differences, metaphoric terminology in dermoscopy seems to be the most useful and reproducible system to be adopted in Brazilian Portuguese.

Título: Assessment of the quality of life of Egyptian and Tunisian autoimmune bullous diseases' patients using an Arabic version of the autoimmune bullous disease quality of life and the treatment of autoimmune bullous disease quality of life questionnaires
Fonte: An. bras. dermatol;94(4):399-404, July-Aug. 2019. tab, graf.
Idioma: en.
Resumo: Abstract: Background: The Autoimmune Bullous Disease Quality of Life (ABQOL) and the Treatment of Autoimmune Bullous Disease Quality of Life (TABQOL) questionnaires proved to be reliable tools that measure the disease and treatment burden. Objectives: We aimed to assess the ABQOL and TABQOL in the Arabic population. Methods: The English questionnaires were translated into the Arabic language by a certified translation agency. Eighty autoimmune bullous disease (AIBD) patients were included in this study. Patients were asked to answer 2 questionnaires. After 1 week the same patients were asked to answer the same questionnaires again. Results: The age of the patients ranged from 19 to 81 years (mean=46), 19 males, 61 females. The ABQOL ranged from 0-37 (mean=16.4±9.2). The TABQOL ranged from 2-43 (mean=21.5±9.4). Test-retest reliability was acceptable, Cronbach's alpha was 0.76 for ABQOL and 0.74 for TABQOL. There was no significant correlation between the age of the patients and ABQOL, r =-0.2, p value was 0.183. There was a significant negative correlation between the age of the patients and the TABQOL, r=-0.2, p value was 0.039. There was a significant negative correlation between the education of the patients and the TABQOL, r=-0.3, p value was 0.007. Study limitations: Small sample size of some AIBDs and patients with severe disease. Conclusion: Objective and valuable measurements such as ABQOL and TABQOL are now available to help physicians understand their patient's distress and should be used in every patient with AIBD. Younger and less educated patients appear to have more effects on their QOL from the treatments.

Título: Cognição social e pragmática da linguagem: estudo com crianças autistas / Social cognition and pragmatics: study with autistic children / Cognición social y pragmática del lenguaje: estudio con niños autistas
Fonte: Psico (Porto Alegre);50(4):30603, 2019.
Idioma: pt.

The aim of this study was to investigate the interface between social cognition and language, analyzing the relationships between theory of mind and pragmatics in autistic children. Twenty-Four Brazilian autistic children, between 6 and 12 years of age, participated in the study. The Theory of Mind Scale was utilized to assess the social cognitive skills; and, to evaluate pragmatics, it was used tasks that requested the child to make judgments about literal and non-literal statements (assessed in two subcategories: conversational implicatures and idiomatic expressions). The results indicate that 1) the children manifested a comprehension of literal language significantly superior to the comprehension that they showed towards non literal language, and, 2) the children who had success on false belief tasks had higher scores on idiomatic expressions. These findings support the hypothesis of a positive association between false belief and pragmatic understanding.

Título: Psychometrican analysis and dimensional structure of the Brazilian version of melasma quality of life scale (MELASQoL-BP)
Fonte: An. bras. dermatol;91(4):422-428, July-Aug. 2016. tab, graf.
Idioma: en.
Resumo: Abstract: Background: Although asymptomatic, melasma inflicts significant impact on quality of life. MELASQoL is the main instrument used to assess quality of life associated with melasma, it has been validated in several languages, but its latent dimensional structure and psychometric properties haven´t been fully explored. Objectives: To evaluate psychometric characteristics, information and dimensional structure of the Brazilian version of MELASQoL. Methods: Survey with patients with facial melasma through socio-demographic questionnaire, DLQI-BRA, MASI and MELASQoL-BP, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency of MELASQoL and latent dimensions (Cronbach's alpha). The informativeness of the model and items were investigated by the Rasch model (ordinal data). Results: We evaluated 154 patients, 134 (87%) were female, mean age (± SD) of 39 (± 8) years, the onset of melasma at 27 (± 8) years, median (p25-p75) of MASI scores , DLQI and MELASQoL 8 (5-15) 2 (1-6) and 30 (17-44). The correlation (rho) of MELASQoL with DLQI and MASI were: 0.70 and 0.36. Exploratory factor analysis identified two latent dimensions: Q1-Q3 and Q4-Q10, which had significantly more adjusted factor structure than the one-dimensional model: Χ2 / gl = 2.03, CFI = 0.95, AGFI = 0.94, RMSEA = 0.08. Cronbach's coefficient for the one-dimensional model and the factors were: 0.95, 0.92 and 0.93. Rasch analysis demonstrated that the use of seven alternatives per item resulted in no increase in the model informativeness. Conclusions: MELASQoL-BP showed good psychometric performance and a latent structure of two dimensions. We also identified an oversizing of item alternatives to characterize the aggregate information to each dimension.
