[Ab] Resumo:A Gram-negative, motile by gliding, rod-shaped, aerobic bacterium, designated S7-3-19 , was isolated from apple orchard soil in Gyeongsangnam-do Province, Republic of Korea, and characterized taxonomically by using a polyphasic approach. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing showed that strain S7-3-19 belonged to the family Cytophagaceae and was most closely related to Spirosoma linguale DSM 74 (96.38 %), Spirosoma fluviale MSd3 (96.38 %), Spirosoma pulveris JSH5-14 (96.35 %) and Spirosoma radiotolerans DG5A (96.24 %). Chemotaxonomic characteristics supported the classification of strain S7-3-19 within the genus Spirosoma. Summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω7c/C16 : 1ω6c; 46.7 %) and C16 : 1ω5c (23.8 %) were the major fatty acids. Phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified aminophospholipid, an unidentified phospholipid and two unidentified lipids were the major polar lipids. Menaquinone with seven isoprene units was the predominant respiratory quinone. The G+C content of the genomic DNA of strain S7-3-19 was 48.6 mol%. On the basis of its phenotypic properties, genotypic distinctiveness and chemotaxonomic features, strain S7-3-19 represents a novel species of the genus Spirosoma, for which the name Spirosomahorti sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is S7-3-19 (=KCTC 52728 =JCM 32131 ).

[Ab] Resumo:A red-pigmented, Gram-reaction-negative, aerobic, non-motile and rod-shaped bacterium, designated NY03-3-30 , was isolated from a soil sample collected from Inexpressible Island, Northern Victoria Land of the Antarctic Ross Orogen, and subjected to a polyphasic taxonomic study. Growth occurred at 4-28 °C (optimum 20 °C) and at pH 6.0-9.0 (optimum pH 7.0). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain NY03-3-30 belonged to the genus Hymenobacter in the family Cytophagaceae. 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities between strain NY03-3-30 and the type strains of Hymenobacter species with validly published names ranged from 92.7 to 96.2 %. Strain NY03-3-30 contained summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω7c and/or C16 : 1ω6c), iso-C15 : 0, C16 : 0, C16 : 1ω5c, anteiso-C15 : 0 and summed feature 4 (iso-C17 : 1-I and/or anteiso-C17 : 1-B) as major cellular fatty acids, MK-7 as the respiratory quinone and phosphatidylethanolamine as the main polar lipid. The DNA G+C content of strain NY03-3-30 was 59.4 mol%. On the basis of phylogenetic, physiological and chemotaxonomic data, strain NY03-3-30 is considered to represent a novel species of genus Hymenobacter, for which the name Hymenobacter rubripertinctus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is NY03-3-30 (=CCTCC AB 2017095 =KCTC 62163 ).

[Ab] Resumo:A Gram-stain-negative, motile by gliding, rod-shaped, aerobic bacterium, designated 15J6-3T6 , was isolated from a soil sample collected from Jeju Island, South Korea, and characterized taxonomically using a polyphasic approach. Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that strain 15J6-3T6 belongs to the family Cytophagaceae and is related to Larkinella harenae 15J9-9 (93.9 % similarity), Larkinella arboricola Z0532 (93.6 %), Larkinella bovis M2TB15 (93.3 %), and Larkinella insperata LMG 22510 (93.3 %). The DNA G+C content of strain 15J6-3T6 was 50.6 mol%. The detection of phosphatidylethanolamine and an unidentified polar lipid as major polar lipids, menaquinone-7 as the predominant quinone, and C16 : 1ω5c, iso-C15 : 0, and iso-C17 : 0 3-OH as the major fatty acids also supports the affiliation of the isolate to the genus Larkinella. Based on its phenotypic properties and phylogenetic distinctiveness, we propose that strain 15J6-3T6 should be classified in the genus Larkinella as a representative of a novel species, for which the name Larkinella knui sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is 15J6-3T6 (=KCTC 42998 =JCM 31989 ).

[Ab] Resumo:A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped and yellow-pigmented bacterial strain, designated TX0405 , was isolated from an automotive air conditioning system. Colonies were circular, convex, semi-translucent, smooth and yellow. The strain grew at 20-28°C (optimum, 28°C), at pH 6.0-7.5 (optimum, pH 6.5) and in the presence of 0-1 % (w/v) NaCl. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence indicated that the strain was grouped with the members of the genus Spirosoma, with the sequence similarities of 93.0 and 92.3 % with Spirosoma panaciterrae DSM 21099 and Spirosoma swuense JBM2-3 , respectively. The major fatty acids of the strain were summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω7c and/or C16 : 1ω6c) (33.2 %), C16 : 1ω5c (25.4 %), iso-C15 : 0 (15.0 %), C16 : 0 (6.5 %) and iso-C17 : 0 3-OH (6.2 %). The predominant menaquinone was MK-7. The polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified aminolipid, two unidentified aminophospholipids and three unidentified lipids. The DNA G+C content of the type strain was 51.9 mol%. On the basis of the data presented, strain TX0405 represents a novel species of the genus Spirosoma, for which the name Spirosomametallilatum sp. nov. (=KACC 19012 =NBRC 112493 ) is proposed.

[Ab] Resumo:A Gram-stain-negative and yellow-pigmented bacterial strain, designated TX0406 , was isolated from an automobile evaporator core collected in Korea. The cells were non-motile, aerobic and rod-shaped. The strain grew at 15-37 °C (optimum, 25 °C), at pH 6.0-7.0 (optimum, 6.5) and in the presence of 0-1.5 % (w/v) NaCl. Phylogenetically, the strain was related to members of the genus Spirosoma(93.7-90.7 % 16S rRNA sequence similarities) and showed the highest sequence similarity of 93.7 % to Spirosomapulveris JSH5-14 . The major fatty acids of the strain were summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω7c and/or C16 : 1ω6c), C16 : 1ω5c and C16 : 0. The predominant menaquinone was MK-7. The polar lipid profile revealed the presence of phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified aminolipid, unidentified aminophospholipids and unidentified lipids. The DNA G+C content of the strain was 58.7 mol%. Based on phenotypic, genotypic and chemotaxonomic data, strain TX0406 represents a novel species in the genus Spirosoma, for which the name Spirosoma carri sp. nov. (=KACC 19013 =NBRC 112494 ) is proposed.

[Ab] Resumo:A psychrophilic, Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, red-pigmented bacterium, designated strain B1789 , was isolated from an ice core of Muztagh Glacier on the Tibetan Plateau in China. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain B1789 was related to members of the genus Hymenobacter and had highest sequence similarity with Hymenobacter antarcticus JCM 17217 (97.9 %). The major menaquinone was MK-7 and the major polar lipid was phosphatidylethanolamine. The predominant fatty acids were iso-C15 : 0, anteiso-C15 : 0 and summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω7c and/or C16 : 1ω6c). The DNA G+C content was 59.4 mol%. In DNA-DNA hybridization tests, strain B1789 shared 42 % relatedness with H. antarcticus JCM 17217 . Based on the results of phenotypic and chemotaxonomic tests, strain B1789 was considered as representing a novel species of the genus Hymenobacter, for which the name Hymenobacter frigidus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is B1789 (=JCM 30595 =CGMCC 1.14966 ).

[Ab] Resumo:Strain 15J11-11 was isolated from soil collected at the seashore and was Gram-staining-negative, short-rod-shaped, gliding and pale-pink pigmented. Flexirubin-type pigments were absent. The isolate grew at a temperature range of 15 to 30 °C and a pH range of 7 to 8. Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence studies showed that strain 15J11-11 belonged to the genus Larkinella within the phylum Bacteroidetes and was most closely related to Larkinella arboricola Z0532 (95.6 %), Larkinella bovis M2TB15 (95.4 %), and Larkinella insperata LMG 22510 (95.2 %). The genomic DNA G+C content of strain 15J11-11 was 53.2 mol%. The strain contained phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylserine, an unidentified aminophospholipid and two unidentified polar lipids as the major polar lipids; menaquinone-7 as the predominant quinone and C16 : 1ω5c, iso-C15 : 0 and iso-C17 : 0 3-OH as the major fatty acids which supported the affiliation of strain 15J11-11 to the genus Larkinella. Based on its phenotypic properties and phylogenetic distinctiveness, strain 15J11-11 represents a novel species of the genus Larkinella, for which the name Larkinella ripae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is 15J11-11 (=KCTC 42996 =JCM 31657 ).

[Ab] Resumo:A novel bacterium with strong arsenic (As) methylation and volatilization abilities, designated strain SM-1T, was isolated from an As-contaminated paddy soil. SM-1T is strictly aerobic, rod-shaped, non-motile, Gram-negative and orange-coloured. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that strain SM-1T showed low 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities (≤88 %) to members of established genera in the family Cytophagaceae. Growth of this strain was observed at 15-45 °C (optimum, 37 °C), pH 6.0-8.0 (optimum, 7.0) and 0-0.5 % (w/v) NaCl. The major cellular fatty acids were C16 : 1ω5c and iso-C15 : 0. The respiratory quinone was MK-7, and the predominant polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified lipid (L), and an unidentified aminolipid (AL2). The DNA G+C content was 51.5 mol%. On the basis of phenotypic, phylogenetic and chemotaxonomic properties, strain SM-1T represents a novel species in a new genus within the family Cytophagaceae, for which the name Arsenicibacter rosenii gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of Arsenicibacter rosenii is SM-1T (=CCTCC AB 2017086T=KCTC 52624T).

[Ab] Resumo:Strain HY02T was isolated from a soil sample collected at Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea. Cells of this strain were observed to be Gram-stain-negative, short and rod-shaped. Colonies were red in colour. A 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis identified this strain as a member of the genus Adhaeribacter in the family Cytophagaceae, with the highest level of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity to Adhaeribacter terreus DNG6T (98.08 %). This strain was positive for oxidase but negative for catalase activity and acid production from glucose. Growth of strain HY02T was observed at 15-30 °C, pH 7-8 and in the presence of 0-1 % NaCl. The isolate contained MK-7 as the predominant respiratory quinone, and C18 : 0, iso-C15 : 0, summed feature 4 (anteiso-C17 : 1 B/iso-C17 : 1 I) and C16 : 0 were the major fatty acids. The major polar lipid was phosphatidylethanolamine. The genomic DNA G+C content of strain HY02T was 44.0 mol%. Phenotypic and chemotaxonomic data supported the affiliation of strain HY02T with the genus Adhaeribacter. However, strain HY02T exhibited a relatively low level of DNA-DNA relatedness with A. terreus(16.3±3.5 %). Based on its phenotypic and genotypic properties, together with its phylogenetic distinctiveness, strain HY02T should be considered a representative of a novel species in the genus Adhaeribacter, for which the name Adhaeribacter terrae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is HY02T (=KCTC 52512T=JCM 31652T).

[Ab] Resumo:A bacterial strain designated LYH-12T was isolated from a freshwater fish culture pond in Taiwan, ROC and characterized by taking a polyphasic taxonomy approach. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain LYH-12T belonged to the genus Hymenobacter and was most closely related to Hymenobacter xinjiangensis X2-1gT and Hymenobacter rigui WPCB131T with a sequence similarity of 96.6 % and less than 96.5 % with other members of the genus. Cells of strain LYH-12T were Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-motile rods that were covered by large capsules and formed light pink-coloured colonies. Growth occurred at 10-37 °C (optimum, 20-30 °C), at pH 6.5-7.5 (optimum, pH 7) and with 0-1 % NaCl (optimum, 0.5 %). Strain LYH-12T contained iso-C15 : 0, C16 : 1ω5c, C16 : 0, iso-C17 : 0 3-OH, summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω7c and/or C16 : 1ω6c) and anteiso-C17 : 1ω9c as the predominant fatty acids. The only isoprenoid quinone detected was MK-7. The polar lipid profile consisted of phosphatidylethanolamine, one uncharacterized aminophospholipid, four uncharacterized aminolipids, two uncharacterized phospholipids and three uncharacterized lipids. The major polyamine was homospermidine. The DNA G+C content of the genomic DNA was 64.3 mol%. On the basis of the phylogenetic inference and phenotypic data, strain LYH-12T should be classified as a novel species, for which the name Hymenobacter pallidus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is LYH-12T (=BCRC 80919T=LMG 29171T=KCTC 42898T).
