Harm perpetrated by close others early in life may impair the ability to identify betrayal and develop trust. Dissociation may facilitate impaired betrayal awareness. The present study examined the impact of high betrayal trauma on state dissociation and betrayal awareness in a college sample (N = 216). Self-report measures were used to assess trauma history and state dissociation. Awareness for betrayal was measured using a drawing depicting an ambiguous interpersonal interaction between an adult and a child. We hypothesized that high betrayal trauma would be associated with both more state dissociation and lower awareness for betrayal. Participants with histories of high betrayal trauma reported high levels of state dissociation. Contrary to our second hypothesis, high betrayal trauma did not directly predict impaired betrayal awareness. State dissociation contributed significantly to betrayal awareness. Implications of findings for theory and practice are discussed. A thematic analysis of narratives of eight Japanese health professionals who are experts in IPV care identified shared core values and practices that have guided their development of culturally relevant IPV interventions: supporting women's autonomy to define what is at stake for her, appreciating unique trajectories and timing for recovery, and practicing shared decision-making. These shared practices may be essential for training health professionals to respond to IPV in Japan and elsewhere. Methodology Qualitative investigation with ethnographic approach. Observations were made in the zone at different times of the day. Twelve interviews with street merchants were held in their work places. Records were kept in a field journal. Results The street merchants and children in street situations share the same space. Both groups try to survive and their relationship is mediated by the trust-distrust that is established between them. The coexistence generates ambivalent feelings. For the street merchants, children in street situations are the result of abandonment by the family, the state and society. They live in a hard world in which they are exposed to a series of risks that they must face. Conclusion The interaction between street merchants and children in street situations is good to the extent that conflicts are avoided, establishing norms of coexistence. The element that determines this relationship is trust-distrust. In trust, strong affective ties are generated, considering each other family. Distrust generates a preventative attitude. Our objective was to understand the perspectives of United States' state-level policy makers and health researchers on the barriers and facilitators to the translation of health evidence into the policy process, with a particular focus on issues related to relationship building. We conducted interviews with 215 US health services and health policy researchers and 40 state-level staffers and legislators. Researchers and policy makers faced the same major barrier to research translation: lack of dedicated time to do so. Some policy makers questioned the credibility of research, and researchers questioned policy makers' authentic desire to use evidence in decision making. For some study participants, a mutual mistrust of the other group challenges stronger relationship formation. Interventions are needed to help both groups understand a broader role that research plays in policy making and to increase personal contact, and ultimately trusted relationships, across various actors in the policy process. In the first extract Ovid illustrates the scientific method by which Medea rejuvenates Aeson, her father-in-law; in the second episode, Medea applies the same "treatment" to Baccus' nurturers, with a similar result. Then there's a famous hoax against Pelias: Medea, pretending to rejuvenate the old tyrant, kills him. The sham uses an accurate simulation of medicine's professional gestures and actions, that are similar to the ones of the previous episode to all the appearances: reflection and diagnosis, prognosis, patient;s anaesthesia, administration of the medications, surgery, etc. The restitution ad integrum belongs to the field of magic, but the described therapeutic procedure belongs to the medicine, and it adheres to the rules of the theory of the humors. The intentional reversal of the outcome in Pelias; mockery leads to an ethical issue about the mistrust against the doctors, a problem that was very rooted in Roman culture.
